things i think

Back in the Saddle Again

Hi!

I’m excited to be back in the [public] blogging world!

I took a break for awhile because I wasn’t accomplishing what I wanted to with my blog. My goal on that site was to showcase my photography to stand out amongst the other things I blogged about. I was so wrapped up in wanting to feel appreciated through my photography and still wasn’t finding value in that. I ended up changing my style of blogging and the topics I wrote about until I felt like I had stretched too far away from my true values. I was blogging what I thought other people would be interested in, not staying true to myself.

I created a *private* blog, not sharing the link with anyone for a long, long time, and it was incredibly refreshing to not worry at ALL about number of views, who commented, or if anyone cared at all that I wrote anything! I wanted to develop one my favorite sides of myself – the nonsensical, unique, humorous side. I wanted to focus on my writing style and develop technique. I didn’t end up doing that to a large extent, but the time I spent away from public blogging really changed me. Maybe because of not blogging, but probably moreso because of other changes in my life. This is getting really deep.

Anyways, I think I can come back to blogging in a way that’s more me now. I’m excited to merge the two styles of my previous blogs and write in a way that’s unique to me, but not feeling prohibited to write about things that other people might enjoy too. I’ve been a blogger for over a decade now, and I don’t want to stop because of restrictions I place on myself due to comparison.

After easyjournal, xanga, blogger, and several other blogs, here goes nothing!
