end of January beginning of February, so what? This is the first chance I’ve had to think about doing such a thing. Here is a brief recap of my 2014 highlights.
Warning: This is a ridiculously long post. Even for Sydnis.
Went to Denver for work
Got a new baby niece
Bought a sewing machine and began an insurmountable project (just kidding, but I am still working on it, yeesh) to re-cover a chair
Lost power for a few days during the biggest ice storm I’ve been a part of
Made my Musical debut in Seasons of Love
My parents visited to see the show
Didn’t experience above-freezing temperatures, or see the ground, for the entire month :O
Went snowboarding again – finally – after seven years! Couldn’t walk for a week afterwards :O
Got to see Mike Gordon in concert – in Philly – AND I GOT TO MEET HIM!!! Life made.
Celebrated a friend’s wedding shower
Regional fellowship dinner
Spent a week with my parents in Georgia, just them and me 🙂
Took on a new role at work, coaching interns in developing financial support
Didn’t have to leave for the summer, which was bliss
We visited the first zoo in the country (yes, Philly!!) and I touched a sloth!! I shouldn’t have, but I did!
Became members at Longwood Gardens to bask in nature’s and horticulturist’s beauty
Weddings galore!! Including Whit’s brother’s wedding at a gorgeous VA vineyard
Whit’s parents visited and we picked strawberries
Spent a lot – a lot of time at the pool
Vacationed in Nags Head with close friends
Went boating and Teals joined us
Saw Phish nine times 😀 Along the journey we meandered among the lot scene, sold our own grilled cheese (and hot dogs), boogied our butts off, saw Mike drive by on his golf cart, were joined by one of my best friends and my parents, and made a sign that Trey (finally) took, although he didn’t actually play one of the songs that we requested.
Stole over to Atlantic City for a beach day with girlfriends
27th 26th birthday (literally just forgot how old I am)
Wedding-ed it up again
Started studying for the GRE
Began our third (!!) year working at the regional office
Met tiny baby day-old kittens
Another wedding (we have a lot of friends!)
Made the Have His Heart conference look pretty
Won another Halloween pet costume contest with my friend Jenny! Her kittens are the cutest!
Went to the Pumpkin Patch with friends
My uncle from Seattle visited…and he bought us a car!! Well, we didn’t get it right then, but he and my dad did help us buy a car 🙂
Visited colleges to recruit students to go on overseas missions
We celebrated our four-year anniversary
Chinese/Japanese Chrysanthemum & Lantern Festival
My parents got Koko, the cutest puppy in the world!
Celebrated Thanksgiving-Christmas with Whit’s family in Nags Head
There’s us with Whit’s new car!!
I studied like crazy for the GRE
Took the GRE and was very satisfied with my score!
Celebrated by visiting my parents in Georgia for the week. We took a ridiculous number of pictures with that dog.
Immediately after I got back, I drove to Blacksburg to try to get a leg up with professors in my department – apparently it worked!!
My parents and brother/sister-in-law came up to spend Christmas with us. It was so fun having Christmas in my own home!!
We ventured to NYC for two days. I ate a lot of gluten-free donuts. Mmm.
We pulled off RADIATE2014; Tela glamorously came with us. We went to museums and I got to hang out with my good friend Laura
Rang in the New Year watching Phish on the bed in the Marriott, as usual. It’s a great tradition after a long week. There was a lot of dancing.
2014’s a wrap! I have a wonderful life!
